In a land as vast as the USA, there seem to be as many honeymoon destination choices as there are stars in the sky. From mountains to deserts, coasts to forests, east coast cities to Old West ghost towns, and tropical jungles to snowy cliffs, America has a bit of everything from sea to shining sea.
For US-based couples, choosing a domestic destination can make your perfect escape much more affordable and accessible than a honeymoon abroad. For couples outside the US, your dream getaway awaits in one of the USA’s incredibly culturally, geographically, and socially diverse 50 states.
With a universe of honeymoon places to choose from, we thought we’d list our favorites to help you get started. With that, here are the top ten honeymoon destinations in the USA for 2015!

1. Paradise Coast, Florida.
Few places more skillfully combine natural beauty and outdoor adventure with sizzling nightlife, world-class dining and spas, luxury resorts and trendy shopping than Florida’s Paradise Coast. That’s why it grabbed our number one spot for the top ten honeymoon destinations in the USA!

Take a cruise to watch the manatees or a famous Paradise sunset, relax on white-sand beaches, kick back with a designer cocktail in a chic lounge or browse designer fashions on Third Street South.

This romantic hotspot is part elegant beach destination, part nature-lover’s wonderland. It’s no surprise that the area is known as the Paradise Coast.
What’s Hot:
The award winning dining and nightlife scene in The Mercato district is perfect for a night out. Whether you’d rather grab a seat at the bar for a couple martinis, listen to live music and dance the night away, or unwind in a premier cigar lounge, The Mercato is the place to explore.
Must- See:
The Everglades is one of the world’s most unique ecosystems, and Florida’s Paradise Coast is one of the few places you can experience it. From manatee tours to paddling through the mangroves, the untamed Everglades is an experience of nature’s raw beauty that you’ll never forget.
Must-Do:
Book a couple’s massage at one of the Paradise Coast’s many luxurious spas, then follow it with a beachside dinner date and a dazzling sunset.
Must-Know:
Book your hotel, restaurant and excursion reservations as far in advance as you can. Florida’s Paradise Coast is a gem that more and more couples are discovering, so book early to make sure you don’t miss out!

2. Kauai, Hawaii.
Known as “The Garden Isle,” the island of Kauai is nothing short of breathtaking. Colorful cliffs, lush jungles and breathtaking golden beaches are just one part of the breathtaking romantic equation in this mosty-rural Hawaiian island.

Add in the warm and friendly locals, stunning coastal hotels, and honeymoon fun ranging from a pulse-pounding ATV ride to an ecstasy-inducing spa, Kauai is a USA honeymoon no-brainer.
What’s Hot:
As a destination known more for its scenic island beauty than glitzy, glamorous nightlife, there’s a lot more in Kauai for laid-back beach bums and nature lovers than party animals. That being said, Duke’s Barefoot Bar is some of the most fun you’ll have on any stretch of sand. With live music, beachside drinks and views of a calm turquoise bay with mountains in the background, you can come for the beach and stay for the drinks and music at Duke’s.
Must-See:
Kauai from the air is a sight that’s to die for. Soar over vast tropical valleys, zoom past cascading waterfalls, plunge through rainbow-colored cliffs and zip along aquamarine coasts for a thrill you’ll remember forever.
Must-Do:
Rent two kayaks (or one tandem kayak) and paddle along the coasts and bays. Kauai is one of the best islands to view from the water, and a self-guided kayak trip lets you explore at your own pace.
Must Know:
In the winter the surf on the island’s North Shore gets rough, and in the warmer months, the waves on the South Shore get bigger. Mind the season and heed any local warnings about surf, as it is a very serious matter, not to be taken lightly.

3. New York City, New York.
As a honeymoon destination that offers excitement, culture, dining and romance, New York City stands in a league of its own. With five boroughs bursting with romantic opportunity, you’ve got to come back for your anniversary to really start getting to know the city!

Dine in a skyscraper with iconic skyline views, browse a Brooklyn flea market, hit up a zoo, catch a show, grab a drink, dance it up at a concert, get tickets to a comedy club, explore a museum, or embark on almost any other kind of romantic urban adventure you can imagine.
What’s Hot:
What isn’t hot in the Big Apple? A Williamsburg bar hop is a great way to explore some great restaurants and experience the uber-hip scene that has people calling Brooklyn “The New Manhattan.” Release your inner hipster with a craft beer, hit up a trendy lounge with some live music or just relax with some cold cocktails al fresco and people-watch all afternoon.
Must-See:
The Empire State Building is about as iconic as New York gets, and you can get a spectacular view from the top. Of course, in “the city that never sleeps,” there are literally a hundred easy candidates for must-see honeymoon attractions, but this is one that every non-New Yorker should experience!
Must-Do:
An afternoon (or morning, or full day) in Central Park is a NYC must-do. From a picnic by the pond and a paddle through the lake to a day at the zoo, Central Park is big enough for as much wholesome honeymoon fun as you can handle.
Must-Know:
With so many tourists trying to see the city at the same time, find out how late things are open and try to schedule things to avoid crowds. The Empire State Building is open late, for example, and certain sights are much easier to access on weekdays. If you get tickets to a show, enjoy some cocktails in the neighborhood while you wait- no sense in arriving early just to wait in line.

4. New Orleans, Louisiana.
Cajun culture meets a splash of France and the American south in New Orleans, where jazz mixes with voodoo, historic fact mixes with mysterious legend, and Mardi Gras meets Creole Gumbo. Hold hands and wander along the cobblestoned streets.

Swing your hips to jazz in the French Quarter. Sip espresso at a breezy southern cafe. From beignets to blues, the music and history-soaked charm of New Orleans oozes a romantic character that you won’t find in any other city in the world.
What’s Hot:
The Spotted Cat Music Club is one of New Orleans’ best places to watch world-class live jazz (and there are lots of places!) Make sure you spend at least one evening here and swing your hips to local legends.
Must-See:
The Garden District’s tree lined streets and ivy-covered historic mansions make it a wonderful place to wander. The beauty of this area is often overshadowed by the more bustling atmosphere in the French Quarter, but it’s a side of New Orleans you don’t want to miss.
Must-Do:
Tour the city! There’s so much intrigue to soak up in New Orleans, the only way to fully absorb it is to dive straight in. There are few places with such a fascinating blend of cultures, customs and history as New Orleans, and a tour is the best way to discover its most romantic nooks, crannies and legends.
Must-Know:
During the high season from Februrary to May, when Mardis Gras occurs, it can be extremely difficult to find a hotel room and prices can be expected. Things are cheaper in the summer but remember; this is Louisiana, and it can get quite muggy that time of year. From November through January the weather is cool, the hotels are emptier and the crowds are thin.

5. Aspen, Colorado.
Aspen has become a getaway for the rich and famous, and the epitome of luxury mountain honeymoon destinations. A romantic escape to Aspen means equal parts outdoor adventure, fine romantic dining, and posh hotels with a dash of rustic mountain charm. Hike, bike, golf, raft, and ride on horseback in the warmer months, and ski, snowboard, and snowshoe in the wintertime.

No matter what time of year you go, Aspen is a romantic wonderland that’s unique in its ability to combine world-class outdoor fun with designer shopping, candlelit dinners and glizty nights out.
What’s Hot:
When there’s a concert at Belly Up, it’s one of the hottest places in town to dance, romance and party your hearts out. With big names from The Flaming Lips to Snoop Dogg, ZZ Top to B.B. King, there’s no shortage of live music from worldwide mega-talent. Reserve a table ahead of time for VIP treatment and get tasty bar food and bottle service. Couples should know that there’s a $250 food and drink minimum if you reserve a table, so prepare to let loose for a long and lovely night out!
Must-See:
The mountains and lake at Maroon Bells provide one of the most breathtaking vistas in the entire state. They’re only a short drive from Aspen and can be climbed with a guide, but nearby trails are easy and offer great views of one of the state’s most photographed areas without the extra work. The area can be crowded in the summer so a shuttle takes you up, but other times of year you can drive in on your own. Make sure to snap a sweet picture in front of the unbelievable view, and prepare for a flood of jealous Instagram comments from friends and strangers around the world.
Must-Do:
Ride a gondola to the top of one of the local mountains for what might be the best view in town. You get a panorama that’s hidden when you hike through the trees or speed down the mountain on skis. After the ride, relax your weary muscles with a trip to hot springs just outside of town. The Conundrum Hot Springs offers hikes with incredible views, followed by a soak in natural thermal springs where the only thing steamier than the water is the two of you!
Must-Know:
Aspen is pricey, so expect premium food, lodging and fun, but all at premium prices. Couples might want to save up more before their Aspen honeymoon if budgeting is a concern, and you should definitely check around for discounts and deals before your trip.

6. Carmel by the Sea, California.
In the funky, tranquil California beach village known as Carmel by the Sea, peace and quiet are a way of life. Warm, sunny days are common year-round and honeymoon mainstays from beaches and wine to romantic oceanside restaurants, quiet beaches and stunning sunset views are all ubiquitous here.

Shop at artsy, independently-owned boutiques on quaint cobblestone roads, dine at cozy cafes overlooking the Pacific, and relax on the beach or go for a hike. With a friendly, character that’s all its own, the laid-back vibe of Carmel by the Sea is often imitated but never quite replicated.
What’s Hot:
A wine tasting tour through the town’s many tasting rooms and wine bars is a delightful way to spend an afternoon (just make sure you have a cab back to your hotel!). Carmel is a delightful place to experience the wines of California along and explore its charming little town. You’ll be soaking up fine reds and whites along with the village’s old-world European vibe.
Must-See:
Carmel Beach is a scenic delight that’s perfect for a day of romance. Hold hands and walk along the golden sand, watch sea lions, dolphins and whales splash in the water, spread out a blanket and have a Champagne picnic, soak in a tide pool or snuggle up in front of a beach bonfire while the sunset fills the sky with color.
Must-Do:
Grab a massage at one of the delightful local spas. In a place as relaxing as Carmel, spas are fairly easy to overlook, but there’s no way to make your trip even more more rejuvenating. Spas provide a great way to do what you always intended: to decompress completely, leaving no hint of the stresses of home.
Must Know:
In this unique little community, houses and businesses don’t have addresses that include a number. Visitors won’t have trouble using the unique names of businesses, local landmarks, and friendly locals, to find what they’re looking for. And if you’re wondering, to get their mail, the locals just use the Post Office!

7. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Part beach destination, part restaurant, nightlife and shopping mecca, part golf paradise, and all newlywed fun: From the ferris wheel and the funky boardwalk to state forests and romantic waterfront dinner dates, it’s as if Myrtle Beach was designed with lovers in mind.

Top it off with a dash of southern American charm, and you’ve got the perfect honeymoon in the making.
What’s Hot:
House of Blues is one of the best bets for dinner and a show in Myrtle Beach. Great food from a celebrity chef, top-notch blues, a murder mystery theatre, DJ-fueled parties and more are all on the playbill here. At House of Blues they took the best of all forms of nighttime fun, rolled them into one, and tucked it all beneath the same roof. Come for dinner and blues, stay for a late-night party, then return the next morning for the Gospel Brunch!
Must-See:
Myrtle Beach State Park sits right on the ocean with a pleasant boardwalk, biking trails, walking paths, and campgrounds waiting for couples who want the full experience of nature that this park offers. It’s quiet, beautiful, and offers a glimpse of an older and more serene Myrtle Beach that’s hard to find almost anywhere else.
Must-Do:
Catch a performance at The Carolina Opry. This is the ultimate variety show, with song and dance acts from Rock and Roll to Broadway, all bundled up into one seamless show and one unforgettable night. Lauded by critics and visitors alike, The Carolina Opry puts on a show that competes easily with what you might find in places like Las Vegas and New York. You’ll leave the show feeling energized by the performance, ready to grab a drink or dance your pants off as the night goes on!
Must-Know:
Avoid driving if you can, as the roads can be confusing, drivers can be aggressive, and it’s far less stressful to invest in taxis than it is to drive around yourselves. Luckily, most of the local fun is centrally-located and easy to get to, so for most couples this doesn’t pose an issue.

8. San Francisco, California.
From beatniks to bays, from funky galleries to designer shops, from rolling hills to enormous parks, from tech gurus to trolley cars, San Francisco is a honeymooner’s delight. Take a cheeky selfie in front of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Trendy neighborhoods, a world-famous Chinatown, and a cool California attitude are only the beginning. Venture just outside the city proper and see a forest of 380-foot California Redwoods in Muir Woods. They may not be as big as your love for each other, but these ancient trees are one California sight that might come close!
What’s Hot:
Check out Union Street for the exciting shopping, chic dining and laid back cafes.
Must See:
The Embarcadero. This dining and shopping hotspot is the perfect place for a date that combines food and wine with waterfront walking, scenic views and local history.
Must Do:
Picnic in Golden Gate Park. With over 1,000 acres of grassy fields, pleasant pathways, sparkling waterfalls and more, you could make an entire day out of exploring different parts of this romantic (and enormous) piece of the California dream.
Must Know:
Budget carefully, as this is one of the priciest cities in the USA. Oh, and the weather is gorgeous year round with temps around 70 degrees during the day, but you can also count on it getting chilly at night. In other words, bring sweaters and prepare to get cozy when the sun goes down!

9. Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Jackson Hole is a mountain-lover’s dream come true. Escape to evergreen-dotted slopes and snow-crusted peaks. Relax in a steaming outdoor spa, taking an invigorating soak in the warm water while the mountain scenery and cold western air surround you on all sides.

Incredible views, outdoor fun galore, and tons of charming mountain resorts and lodges make Jackson Hole an ideal honeymoon spot for outdoorsy couples who want to devour a feast of stunning landscapes with plenty of luxury on the side.
What’s Hot:
The Jackson Hole Aerial Tram is always a hot attraction – one of those things you’ve got to do just once while you’re in the area. It’s the best way to take in the stunning views of the landscape, with tons of mountainside fun once you get to the top, depending on the season. It’s not open year round (closed early October through late May), so time your honeymoon to take advantage.
Must-See:
Laurance Rockefeller Preserve is an idyllic forest north of town that most visitors don’t know exists. That means it stays a tranquil mini-getaway for couples who want a piece of Wyoming all to themselves. Plenty of trails and places to picnic make it a sweet spot for a date.
Must-Do:
A visit to the Granite Hot Springs is the perfect way to wind down with a soak, and enjoy some truly stunning Wyoming views from one of the most relaxing locations around. Hidden in the Bridger-Teton National Forest, the Granite Hot Springs is a must-do for some sweet R & R in the great outdoors.
Must-Know:
With things as spread out as they can be in Wyoming, couples will want to rent a car. In most seasons, all-wheel drive is a good investment if you plan on exploring any sites in the great outdoors – and we assume you will, since you’re in one of the top American paradises for outdoor fun and adventure!

10. Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Adorable sandy cottages, beautiful beaches, quaint little towns…Cape Cod is an American treasure that’s perfect for an affordable beach honeymoon that’s loaded with New England charm. After all, there’s nothing that cuts short your newlywed bliss quite like an empty bank account! Soak up the slower pace of life on “The Cape”…it’s more affordable than Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard without sacrificing blissful seaside ambiance. Cape Cod is a delight to visit in the summer or in the less-crowded springtime.

Kick back on the sand, either on the peaceful Cape Cod bay or on bigger-wave beaches on the Atlantic coast. Discover the funky, risque, LGBT-friendly vibe with a summer visit to Provincetown, rent some bikes and ride the Cape Cod Rail Trail, charter a boat to take you on a sunset cruise…Cape Cod is a relaxing and accessible honeymoon destination where the people are friendly, the fun never ends, and the ocean is always close.
What’s Hot:
Located on the tip of Cape Cod, Provincetown is a hot destination in the summertime for couples with an appreciation for anything-goes fun. Though it’s practically a deserted fishing village in the off-season, a totally outrageous gay pride parade marks the peak of the town’s summertime festival vibe. It’s complete with wild floats, flamboyant costumes, and plenty of flying beads. Even if you miss the parade, go any time during the summer, pick up some locally-made saltwater taffy and explore the town’s main drag for funky shopping, great dining and people-watching galore.
Must-See:
The dunes! Explore the iconic sand dunes of Cape Cod, rolling mountains of sand lined with swaying beach grass as far as the eye can see. Art’s Dune Tours in Provincetown offers a sunset tour with dinner and a beach bonfire that’s perfect for couples looking for views worth smooching to. Request a private tour so it’s just the two of you, or even tie the knot in an unforgettable dune wedding!
Must-Do:
Spend a day at the Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge, and see a side of Cape Cod many don’t even know exists. Couples can hop on a ferry to Monomoy, a completely uninhabited 8-mile island off the Cape Cod coast that’s so pristine, it literally has nothing but pretty beaches and a lighthouse. Bring a picnic basket with Champagne and enjoy the peace and quiet of a part of Cape Cod where the words “bustle” and “work” were never invented.
Must-Know:
Cape Cod gets crowded during the summer, so leave early, especially if you have a reservation or flight to catch. If you’re looking for a quieter side of The Cape, try a visit in the spring or fall. It’s still pleasant, but the crowds vanish and the pace of life slows down considerably. A few summer-only businesses might be closed, but there will still be plenty that are open, and many of those offer reduced rates in the slow season.
